The Ritz London ( Phase 2 “Picnic” Project)
Ruddy is very proud to be delivering Phase 2 of the prestigious “Picnic” Project at The Ritz London, having secured the contract via Sir Robert McAlpine following the successful completion of works by Ruddy on Phase 1. The award reflects Ruddy’s commitment to exceptional quality, programme certainty, and specialist craftsmanship on one of the world’s most iconic hospitality landmarks.
Phase 2 represents the final stage of the wider redevelopment and includes the delivery of bespoke joinery works and the general door package, playing a pivotal role in the transformation of this historic hotel.
The Ritz London is undergoing a £300 million transformation, marking one of the most significant refurbishments in its 118-year history. Under the ownership of Qatari businessman Abdulhadi Mana Al-Hajri, the redevelopment seeks to sensitively modernise the hotel while preserving the elegance and architectural heritage for which The Ritz is renowned.
The project includes expansion into an adjacent building on Arlington Street, enhancing guest accommodation and unlocking new luxury amenities. These include a two-storey subterranean spa, a 20-metre swimming pool, and a range of wellness and treatment facilities, ensuring The Ritz continues to set the standard for luxury hospitality worldwide.
Since opening in 1906, The Ritz has welcomed royalty, statesmen, and cultural icons, including Queen Elizabeth II, Winston Churchill, and Charlie Chaplin.
Ruddy’s involvement reflects a shared commitment with Sir Robert McAlpine to heritage, precision, and excellence, delivering specialist joinery solutions that respect the past while supporting the future of this world-class destination.
Works commenced in 2022, with completion anticipated by 2027–2028, reaffirming The Ritz London as a global benchmark in luxury, craftsmanship, and timeless design.
